Dodgers reliever Brian Wilson was Designated For Assignment on Tuesday afternoon. Friedman announced this morning that there would be news about him later today. The Dodgers announced that Brian Wilson has been released.
At 32 years old, Wilson’s beard is in full bloom. His baseball, not so much. Wilson had a stellar 2010 season, one of the Giants even years which turned into a World Series championship. Wilson appeared in 70 games and finished the season with a remarkable 1.81 ERA as the Giants closer. In 2013, his 0.66 ERA in 18 games was nothing close to his 2014 4.66 ERA in 61 appearances.
Wilson thinks he still has enough in the tank to make another run at it. But a couple of bad years could possibly end his career. Or injury, injury could also do it.
Here’s what the Dodgers owe him, thanks Bill:
Goodbye Brian Wilson and your voluptuous beard. Thanks for the memories.
